1. Prismatic
By far the smartest news aggregator I have ever used. Has a simple minimalistic design. I find it innovative to swip through news layers and social features using finger gestures.
2. Timehop
It's the first app I open every morning. I like the idea of it telling me what I tweeted last year on the same day - brings back priceless memories.
3. Cal | Your Life. Your Calendar. (by Any.Do)
To me, calendars have always been a problem. Too many buttons - not intuitive - plus the fact that I am not really that busy made my calendar look boring. Once you have come to like it, it's very hard to let go. It also has a very iOS 7 feel to it.
4. IFTTT
If "this" then "that" . A powerful tool that allows you to put the internet to work for you. Connect all your internet social media accounts and allow them to integrate together. Brilliant idea. The app is superbly well designed.
5. Grid
I am a geek by nature - and that's why I enjoy tools similar to excel. It's not made for numbers and calculations, but for small scale project organizing. The app has just launched, and currently has very primitive features but I believe future updates have the potential to be impressive.
6. Google Maps
Google has always made maps look so simple and beautiful. With this current update, you can customize your own Google map to show you your favorite places. It has a sleek UI. I open it from time to time just to play around with the map.
7. Screenfeeder
Allows you to view your social feeds, one post at a time. Forget about endless cluttery timelines and multiple apps - connect your foursquare, instagram & twitter and take your time enjoying what your friends share.
8. Vine
It's enough to say it's been acquired by twitter. Vine allows you to create looping six second video clips (as an animated GIF concept). The amount of creative vids being shared daily on it - is mind boggling.
9. Pocket
The perfect app for saving all those interesting articles you'd like to read later on.
10. Landcam
Forget about all the other sophisticated camera apps. You don't need to be an expert to take good pictures nor even edit them. Landcam provides you with a seamless interface; allows you to play around with effects and create beautiful pictures.
11. MONI
I have tried almost all money tracking apps there are; but this app seemed to catch my attention the most. Other money apps seem to lose focus with so many features that clutter the app.
12. Over
You would be surprised how you can transform your pictures by just adding some text to them.
13. StockTouch
Simply brilliant.
14. Flipboard
I know someone that solely choose to buy an iPad over android tablets back when Flipboard was on iOS only. Flipboard trasnforms your social media accounts into a magazine like structure.
15. Yahoo Weather
I never really cared about weather apps - after all Egypt is blessed with the sun all year long. Nonetheless, I am happy to say Yahoo! finally made a good product - so good that I don't really know why people bother reviewing other weather apps :)
16. Google Drive
Google is taking over the world anyhow - so just accept it. Google drive is a great cloud storage tool.
17. Catch
Organized note taking. Some might argue Evernote is better - but for some reason I like Catch more.
18. Showyou
An awesome way to watch videos off of your social media networks from youtube, vimeo, and TED.
19. Readmill
A great alternative to iBooks
20. AskNative
I am a bit biased towards this app - after all the CEO is a good friend of mine. It's one of the best designed apps to come out of the one and only Cairo, Egypt. It's a Q&A app for travelers - give it a shot.
21. Currency - Simple Converter
Fun currency conversion
22. Word Lens
Real time translation using augmented reaity - this app proves how technology can be cool. (its a bit pricey - but I believe its worth it)
23. Quran Reader
It's beautiful. :) Their iPad version is even better!! (but not universal)
24. Thefancy
Creative ways to blow your monthly salary on. To all girls out there - if you must know, Ashton Kutcher recommends it too.
25. TuneIn Radio
Forget about Podcasts - nothing beats radio.
26. Days
It's a visual diary. Well-crafted, UI is amazing. Wish instagram was that good.
27. Calcbot
Quite often design isn't everything. This on going minimalist calculator apps don't cut it for me. Calcbot is powerful - reminds me of my high school calculator.
28. Poutsch
I appreciate start ups - Poutsch is basically Quora for mobile, but as they say execution is everything - the way they designed the app, makes you want to constantly engage.
I need not mention apps like twitter, Facebook, Foursquare, Instagram, Vimeo, & Gmail – goes without saying.
